Mercedes-Benz Concept B-Class E-CELL PLUS at frankfurt

Joining the regular version of the all-new B-Class in its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show is a concept model of Mercedes-Benz's small MPV. The Concept B-Class E-Cell PLUS is an advanced extended-range plug-in hybrid that combines an electric drive with a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine.The electric drive generates a peak power output of 100 kW (136HP) and a continuous output of 70 kW (95HP), while the gasoline unit delivers 67-horsepower (50 kW).
The plug-in hybrid B-Class is fitted with a lithium-ion battery from Deutsche Accumotive, which promises to offer an emission-free driving range of up to 100 kilometers (62 miles), that can be extended to a total of 600 kilometers (373 miles) with the use of the small displacement petrol engine.
The two drive units are located in the engine compartment at the front together with the transmission and the generator, while the lithium-ion battery and the fuel tank are located in a false floor at the rear.
According to the Stuttgart-based firm, the Concept B-Class E-Cell PLUS can complete the standard sprint from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 11.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 150km/h (93 mph).
Mercedes said that the concept vehicle presented in Frankfurt "provides a foretaste of the series" which is scheduled go into production in 2014.
