2012 Mercedes S Class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been the industry leader in technology and innovation since, well, ever. Famous for safety features such as electronic traction control, driver and passenger airbags, electronic ABS and many many more, the story went that if you ever wondered what cars of the future will have as standard technology, look no further than the S-Class.

Internally dubbed the W222, the new S-Class will be available in four different bodies: short wheelbase, which will debut first in 2012; standard wheelbase, coming a year later; an S-Class Coupe, which replaces the CL in 2013; and a four-seater convertible in 2014. It’s been nearly 20 years since we’ve heard the nomenclature, S-Class Coupe. This dates back as far as the W140 and W126 S-Class Coupes. But never has there been an S-Class Convertible since the famous vertical headlighted W108-109 280SELs. So Mercedes is going a bit retro on us.

2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class TopClass View
Celebrating its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show (2 - 17 October 2010), CLS-class in 2012 based on a model of its predecessor, but with a fresh new interpretation. "The new Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class paves the way for future perception of design," explains Professor Gordon Wagener, head of design Mercedes-Benz. "At the same time a huge impact on the auto has a great tradition of style, exclusive sport, which has always been a hallmark of the Mercedes coupe. Appearance: classic coupe, designed the distinctive front part

Proportions as always spectacular: long hood, tightly styled frameless side windows and the dynamic roll back the roof at an angle to the rear. In 2003 four-door coupe Mercedes-Benz immediately began to position itself as a sample of the new style. Despite the fact that the dimensions remain the same, the second generation of the trendsetter in the design is entirely new look. The first thing that catches your eye - it transformed the design front end that resembles a Mercedes-Benz SLS. Visually, the grille is not connected to the hood, but is equipped with separately. This further stresses the long, athletic hood. On the lattice pronounced a big star in the center, which combines a car with another coupe Mercedes-Benz, as well as its relation to the brand. Large, elongated dark vents with black bars also add strength to the sports car appearance.

Another feature is represented as a fully LED headlamps, which are the first in the world of lights, able to offer all the dynamic features of lighting, using LED technology. This innovation can boast of impressive design - inside they are divided into three layers swept from top to bottom: the top layer contains the LED and the lower is the shock side LED lighting, which performs the functions of beam. Side-light can also be seen when the high beam is activated, thus creating a unique night design. At the bottom of the main headlights are lighting and night vision function. A total of 71 LED provides an unmistakable appearance, as well as significantly increase the Review of the road compared to previous systems.

Typical features of the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class with its long elegant proportions are the dominant feature of the new model. The effect of a dynamic, athletic form was increased with a new fusion of curves and surfaces. The unique "cast form, which begins above the front wheel pads and down toward the rear, is a new interpretation of the famous Mercedes-Benz sports car designs included in the story.

Prominent and powerful sports car, thanks to the line above the rear axle housing, puts sporty CLS 2012 in the foreground. Expanding arc wheels resemble the strong limbs feline predator, preparing to attack. Lateral part is rounded with a broad rear lights having LED-technology - linking element rear of car. Form Auto emphasize the broad line of the body, which is clearly visible from behind and keeps a flat roof. Wide metal insert more visually emphasizes the back.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class 2012 also features timeless design, which combines sustained elegance with innovative items, as well as excellence of manual work. The dashboard, based in presentable cabin extends from the driver's door of the additional instrument panel and along to the passenger door. The central display is also built into the top of the dashboard.

2011 Mercedes ML 63 AMG TopClass View
The Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG, featuring a powerful 375 kW (510 hp) AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine, unveils its updated exterior takes on a more attractive appearance thanks to some subtle but effective changes. From the front, the eye is immediately drawn to the new bonnet with power domes, and the darkened bi-xenon headlamps with active light function. The rear, meanwhile, also contributes appropriately to the new look: the performance SUV now features darkened tail lamps incorporating a clear-lens design and LED technology. The subtle changes to the exterior coordinate perfectly with the high-gloss, chromed front and rear underguard, and afford the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG an even more powerful and distinctive appearance.

Powerful and torque-laden AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine
Still boasting a power output of 375 kW (510 hp) at 6800/rpm as well as 630 Nm of torque, the Mercedes ML 63 AMG is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). At the renowned International Engine of the Year Awards in 2009, the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine took the top places in both the "Best Performance Engine" and "Above 4 litres" categories.

As before, power transfer is taken care of via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission with three drive modes. The permanent all-wheel drive is decidedly sporty: the power is split asymmetrically 40:60 between the front and rear wheels to provide optimum agility. The AMG sports suspension, based on the AIRMATIC package with air suspension, adaptive damping system ADS and automatic level control all-round, provides dynamic performance combined with the hallmark Mercedes long-distance comfort. The generously dimensioned AMG high-performance braking system, which features internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all-round, ensures short braking distances and optimum resistance to fading.

The Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG comes with 5-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels, which are painted titanium grey with a high-sheen finish and fitted with 295/40 R 20 tyres on the front and rear. As an optional extra, titanium-grey-painted, high-sheen twin-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels fitted with 295/35 R 21 tyres are also available.

High-quality interior with nappa leather upholstery
As usual, the interior of the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG is both functional and high-quality: electrically adjustable AMG sports seats finished in nappa leather upholstery, with Alcantara inserts in the shoulder areas and multicontour function and heating, are complemented by the AMG sports steering wheel with AMG aluminium shift paddles and perforated leather on the specially-shaped grip area. A nappa leather-trimmed dashboard is also available as an optional extra. The updated Mercedes ML 63 AMG is available to order with immediate effect and will be delivered to customers from July 2010. It carries a price tag of 105,077 euros (incl. 19% VAT).

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet 2011

Car Name: Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet
Brand Name: Mecedes-Benz

TopClass View

This past year, Mercedes-Benz released its new E-class sedan and coupe, and now the 2011 E-class convertible has been unveiled, replacing the CLK droptop in the Mercedes lineup just as the E coupe replaced the fixed-roof CLK. The E-class sedan has long been one of the bread-and-butter cars for M-B, and the E lineup as a whole should be guaranteed bestselling-Benz status given its four-model breadth: E-class sedan, E-class coupe, E-class convertible, and the forthcoming E-class wagon.

Despite its new name, this cab follows the formula of CLKs past, being as it is based on a mix of E- and C-class mechanicals. Chopping the top off the coupe required reinforcements baked into the pillars and bulkheads to resist chassis flex. M-B claims the convertible gains roughly 150 pounds in the transformation, but we expect the real-world difference to be closer to 250 pounds. The E convertible carries over some nice features from the coupe such as a pass-through in the rear center armrest for skis, a nice touch lacking on many convertibles, and because M-B designed the current E platform with the droptop in mind, trunk space goes surprisingly uncompromised by the seven-layer softtop.

As you’d expect, the styling is similar to the coupe’s. Even the raked rear window carries over to the cabriolet, surprising, since such elements usually are left behind in the transition from coupe to convertible. The new E’s aggressive, boxed-off fender flares remain at the rear, as does the massive three-pointed star in the grille. The car is pretty handsome top-up or top-down, although we note that it resembles a Toyota Camry Solara from the front-three-quarter view.

Sadly, we only get the two gas engines found in the E-class sedan and coupe: a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 for the E350 and a 382-hp, 5.5-liter V-8 for the E550. Europeans get their choice of six diesels, too, one of which is scheduled to hit American shores in the E-class sedan in June; it won’t make it into U.S.-spec droptops. An unblinking German stare was the only response when we asked about an E63 cabriolet—do you think that’s a good sign? (Nah, us either.)

The E-class coupe carries what Mercedes claims is the lowest drag coefficient of any production car, ever: 0.24. The convertible slips by at a slightly worse 0.28 with the top up. Drag increases to 0.33 with the top down. The most fascinating bit of tech debuting in the E convertible is a wind deflector Mercedes has dubbed Aircap. The system will be standard on U.S.-bound E-class cabs. Going beyond the typical large piece of mesh behind the front seats, the Aircap involves a deployable spoiler that lives on the top of the windshield frame; it raises 2.4 inches above the header and redirects air higher and further back over the cabin than it would normally flow. If it sounds simple, think again: There are a total of 211 parts in the thing.
We have yet to drive the E convertible, but M-B did set us up in its wind tunnel in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim to experience Aircap for ourselves. We were subjected to “speeds” of 50, 62, 75, and 87 mph in both the front and back seat. The effect could be felt at all the speeds, and it is convincing. In the back seat with Aircap deployed, wind hits the top of your head rather then the middle of your forehead. In the front seat, Aircap basically eliminates wind buffeting. Don’t be surprised if you see this on all Benz convertibles to come.

But there is a price to pay for not feeling the wind in your hair (but isn’t that the point of convertibles?). The low drag coefficient rises to 0.38 with your jaunty little Aircap in place. That, believe it or not, is essentially the same as that of a 2004 Dodge Durango (0.39). Official fuel-economy numbers haven’t been disclosed, but expect them to be 1 or 2 mpg worse than those of the coupe, which stand at 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway for the V-6 and 15/23 for the V-8.
