Hyundai Eon is all set to arrive in the Indian auto industry. Powered by a small 814cc petrol engine, Eon small car will take on the highest selling car in India, Maruti Suzuki Alto. Hyundai is the second largest car manufacturer in India while Maruti Suzuki is the largest car manufacturer, with the launch of Eon, the battle between No 1 and No 2 car manufacturers in India is expected to get fierce.
Hyundai Eon will be priced between Rs 3.2 lacs to Rs 3.5 lacs which is approximately Rs 20,000 lesser than the cheapest Hyundai car currently available in India (Santro). This brings Hyundai Eon in the price range of Maruti Alto.
Spy shots of Hyundai Eon reveal the exterior of the car and from the images we think that the car looks much better and has even bigger space on the inside compared to Maruti Alto. From the front Hyundai Eon looks like the smaller Fluidic Verna. Exterior dimensions of Hyundai Eon are 3495 mm X 1625 mm X 1535 mm (L X B X H).
The 3 cylinder 814cc engine of Eon generates 54 bhp and 76.5 Nm torque which is quite powerful. Hyundai Eon has a bootspace of 211 litres and its wheelbase is longest in the segment. On the inside, there is lot to look forward to.
Hyundai Eon will have a decent combination of silver accents, black and beige plastic on dashboard. The headroom is decent while the legroom on the rear is a little less which makes it uncomfortable for passengers in the rear.
Seats are comfortable with decent support for your legs. You will also find bottle holders and storage trays on the inside. Gadgets which come built in include – music stereo system, support for USB/AUX, power steering, power windows for the front, and airbag for the driver. ABS is not installed.
Hyundai Eon will offer an ARAI certified mileage of 21.1 kmpl which is more than Maruti Alto offers (20.2 kmpl). Eon will have 13" steel wheels and no alloys. The wheels will come with plastic covers and the size of tires will be 155/70.
